Focus On Prosperity

‘It is an absolute law of your being, that you must have something mentally before you will ever have it physically!’ ~ Bob Proctor

I love Bob Proctor’s message and the practical information that he provides through his books, programs and his website. The fact that he is a multimillionaire a few times over doesn’t hurt his credentials either. I take what he says and use it. I don’t question it or think about it. I just try it out and see if works for me. If it doesn’t work then I try something else. Most recently I have come across some powerful ideas on how to develop a prosperity consciousness.

Debt Repayment Plan

Bob Proctor offers several practical suggestions on how to develop a prosperity consciousness. The first idea he suggests is to setup an automatic debt repayment plan. The reason Bob suggests you make your debt repayment plan automatic is so that you no longer focus on your debt. This is a good thing because focusing on your debt creates more debt. If your debt is handled automatically then you don’t need to focus on it (consciously or subconsciously).

Bob suggests that you contact your bank directly and prepare a written letter to qualify your commitment to repay your debt. In this letter you should include details like the monthly payment, your payment frequency and the date by which you will be debt-free.

I have applied this process to my hockey registration. This year I’m playing hockey in two adult hockey leagues instead of just one so the registration costs have doubled. To handle this I’ve setup a debt repayment plan. I’ve been paying $150 per week to cover my costs to play hockey. This process has worked for the league and has worked great for me because I don’t feel like I have any debt.

Practice Prosperity Consciousness

Once you get your debt repayment plan setup, you’ll be in a position to develop your prosperity consciousness. In Bob Proctor’s book, You Were Born Rich he states the following,

“Begin to immediately play a mental game with yourself – get into the habit of visualizing yourself in the possession of great wealth. Think of some of the things you would do with that money and then mentally start doing them. Since your sub-conscious mind cannot tell the difference between actually doing something and visualizing yourself doing it, this exercise will very quickly help you to develop a prosperity consciousness.”

I’ve posted this quote on the mirror in my bathroom. It may sound like a lot of hoop-la but I couldn’t resist trying it out. I’ve been visualizing myself in possession of great wealth and this is what I’ve noticed:

  • My default thinking is automatically geared towards income generating opportunities.
  • Two weeks ago I received a random check in the mail for $100.
  • I have more frequent spurts of inspiration and creativity.
  • I received a massive traffic spike of 5,500 hits on this site last Friday.
  • I’ve generated more income on my blog in the past week than in the last 4 months.
  • UPDATE! I received an unexpected 12.9% increase in salary at my job. (Date: October 31, 2007)
  • UPDATE! As of November 1, 2008 I will be working as an engineering consultant and my new hourly rate is going to be 3 times the rate I’m currently paid as a salary employee.

Don’t take my word for it. Try it out for yourself. For those of you who are interested I would suggest you check out Bob Proctor’s book, You Were Born Rich for more information on creating a prosperity consciousness.
