Practicing the Abundance Vibe

Appreciation 101

It’s amazing! I can’t believe what a lift I get from the simple things in life. I went into a McDonalds this morning and bought a cup of coffee for $0.21. Holy cow!  That’s like 1950′s pricing… what a treat!!

I guess McDonalds has some promotion on coffee this week. I love the simple pleasures in life :)

It’s great when I notice opportunities like this because it gives me a strong foot hold in the appreciation vibe.  Then it’s much easier to shift to an even better feeling thought.

When this happens, I typically expand on that feeling.  I expand it by starting to think of other great things that are happening to me right now; and as I do this, I start to feel even better.  The key is to ride that feeling as long as you can.

I love the appreciation vibe because the more I expand on this feeling, the easier I can slip into the abundance vibe – a real powerful vibration for attracting money, opportunities and all the “luck” you can handle.

The reason this works so well is because appreciation and abundance are close vibrational-cousins.  The distance between the two is really small.

If you put your attention on appreciation, then you can easily shift into abundance.  But you can’t skip a step or take a short cut.

Living From Abundance

The only way to be truly happy with lots of money to spare is to live from abundance.  Living from abundance is what generates more abundance in your life.  This one feeling alone can cause so much more good to flow into your life.  In this article I’ll share the insights I’ve gained while living from abundance.

Now here comes the contrast… most of us are not living from abundance – we operate as if something is missing; we operate as if there is ‘not enough’ of something.  We operate from lack.

Enter the scarcity vibe.

Here are some other signs of the scarcity vibe…

  • You constantly have a shortage of money
  • You constantly have a shortage of time
  • You constantly struggle to pay your bills and living expenses
  • You constantly struggle to find a better paying job
  • You constantly struggle to find paying clients for your business
  • You lack confidence and self esteem
  • You lack discipline and courage
  • You feel “restricted” in some way

The common theme with the scarcity vibe is that there is a shortage of something.  You are lacking in some way and that lack generates a feeling of “not-enough-ness.”  This feeling of “not-enough-ness” creates a shortage of time, money, resources, good ideas and other opportunities in your life.

Let me illustrate with an example.  Let’s say you’re really broke right now – I mean really broke and sinking fast.  Each month seems to be harder than the last.  On a ‘feeling-scale’, you might feel at about a 2/10, where a 10 is feeling totally abundant and a 1 is feeling desperately broke.

Now as you move up the feeling-scale to a 5/10… you’ll start to notice something; you’ll notice you’re doing ok with money.

You’re not completely broke, but you’re not totally abundant either.

Do you see the difference?  Do you notice how that feels?

It’s the way you dominantly feel – your energetic state that drives your level of abundance and prosperity in your life. And regardless of where you are, you can quickly move from a 2/10 to a 10/10 when you are living from abundance.

Living From Abundance

It was not long ago that I was living off my line of credit to pay for my house and all of my living expenses.  It was my experience of scarcity that got me rethinking about how money and abundance flows to us in the first place.  I had experienced so much pain around money – I was so desperate – that I was willing to try anything.

So I went for it.  I made a commitment to live from abundance.

More Money Program

I’m coming out with a More Money Program very soon.  I’ll be giving this live training away for free. In this post I just want to give you an update of when the program is going to come out and why I decided to create it.

Why More Money?

Here’s a bit of my story.  Not very long ago (about a year ago) I was relying on my lines of credit to take care of my living expenses (bills, mortgage, etc).  My wife was tearing her hair out because she was still working full time and we couldn’t afford the simple pleasures in life; like buying a coffee or going out for a cheap “date-night” once a week.

Last summer I opened a second line of credit to carry the expenses and try to keep things going. We eventually hit rock bottom when our line of credit started to run out.

It’s been just about a year since then and I’m earning 6 figures - most of the money coming from the engineering, business development and consulting that I do.  Right now the money is coming in faster than I can spend it.  I realize that’s a good problem to have :)

Since starting this blog back in June 2008 I’ve always had the desire to create a program that teaches people how to attract more money. Money gives you choices – the more choices you have, the more creative you are and the more creative you are, the better life gets – at least in my experience.

3 Hidden Truths About Money

As you learn more about money, you may notice a few things.  I have.  In the past 6 months I’ve earned more money than in the previous 2.5 years combined.  I have doubled my coaching rates and worked with some amazing people.  In this post I want to share 3 truths I’ve learned about money.

Truth #1: Give More Than You Receive

Last summer this kid knocked on my door.  He asked if I would like him to cut my lawn.  He must have been about 11 years old and he seemed like a nice kid, so I said, “sure.”

“$25,” he said and I said, “deal.” And with that he proceeded to cut my lawn with his push-mower.

About 10 minutes later he came back and said, “I’m finished.”

“You’re finished,” I thought and I went outside to see the job he had done.

There were traces of little mohawks all over the lawn, places he had missed. I showed him the mohawks on the lawn… little areas where the grass was spiked up…. and asked him to cut them again so that it was all flush.  I thought that was reasonable for $25 bucks (my lawn is tiny).

He went back a second time and did his thing.  A few minutes later he came back, knocked on the door again and said,

“I’m finished”

We went again together to inspect the lawn.  This time I noticed the lawn near the fence was not trim.  I asked him if he had a trimmer to trim all the pieces of grass by the fence.  He said,

“nope”

So I pulled my trimmer out from the garage and showed him how to use it.  Minutes later he went again… this time trimming all the high grass along the fence.

10 more minutes and he was back… I heard the nock on the door again.  I opened the door and he says…

“I’m finished”

This time I took a good look at the fence where he did the trimming.  It looked pretty good.  I went to give him the money and just before I did, I thought occurred to me, so I said,

“I’m curious, do you want to make more money cutting lawns? I mean, do you want to have so many clients paying you money to cut lawns that you never have to worry about knocking on another door again?”

He looked at me with eager eyes and said, “yes, yes.”

I said, “Next time you cut a lawn, make sure to always do more than you’re being paid to do.  Don’t just do a little.  Do more than you’re getting paid… and if you do that, you will always have plenty of people sending you money to cut their lawns.”

Truth #2: Provide Valuable Service

You must provide valuable service to the person or company that is paying you.  The way to create more value for your company is by solving their biggest problems.  Learn how to do that and you will never have to worry about money again.

Prosperity will always be at your fingertips.

What happens is that we get so caught up in our own issues that we get distracted from serving others.  We think, “I just need to sort out this and this issue and then I can help others with their problems.”

The reality is that if you have money issues – and I know that some of you do – you cannot afford not to pay attention to other peoples issues.   The key to your prosperity lies in unearthing creative solutions to your companies biggest problems and issues.

In Richard Branson’s book “Business Stripped Bare: Adventures of a Global Entrepreneur,” he was asked in an interview,

“what would you say to someone who just lost their job?”

Paraphrased he said, “the most important thing to a business is money.  Most people try and think of ways for the company to make more money and that’s fine.  But the other side of the coin is how to save the company money.  I would tell the person who just lost their job to think of some innovative ways to save their company money and pitch it to the CEO.  If they see the validity in your idea, then all you have to do is name your price.”

That is exactly what I am saying.  You want to continually deliver valuable service.  And you can do that by looking for the biggest problem your company has and coming up with some very creative solutions to that problem.  The bigger the problems you solve for them, the more money you will get paid.

Chasing The Dream

It’s not obvious when it’s happening, but it can come to you in a flash of insight.  If you have dreams and you’re pursuing those dreams, you’ll completely relate.
