Love Matters
January 18, 2012 | 3 Comments
I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine from University. His 3 year old daughter threw up all over him on Monday. She was sick. His daughter was all freaking out, but he was ok with it. It didn’t matter. No big deal.
When I was 16 I smashed my parents red Hyundai Elantra. Crashed right into a metal guard rail. My license was suspended and the car was a write-off.
I remember telling my dad the bad news. He approached the door in the middle of the night in his PJ’s, just nodded and said, “I’ll be right out.” He seemed pretty nonchalant about the whole episode.
Last summer I was at a friends cottage on the lake. It was the 3 of us – our new puppy (an 15 lb half pomeranian and half toy-poodle, so cute… ), my wife and I all squeezed into a single bed in my friends camper trailer. Our puppy was snuggled nicely between my armpit and the trailer wall.
At about 3am, I felt this warm feeling on my chest… got up and realized our puppy had thrown up all over my chest. I hung out my shirt to dry and went back to bed. “How cute,” I thought.
So what is my point?
Each one of these stories shares a common theme and the lesson is so simple.
If you love someone, your kids, your puppy or the work that you do… when it does throw up all over you – because eventually it will – it’s never a big deal or a blow-out drama. You can accept it for what it is.
That’s love. Love matters.

I apologize ahead of time if the sound quality is not the greatest. I was driving to a meeting and this idea of how intuition works came to me in a “flash.” I recorded it on my Blackberry and decided to post it here. Tell me how good it is by leaving a comment below.

The Lazy Way to Success – Fred Gratzon
October 13, 2011 | 2 Comments
“I will readily concede that if you achieve something in one hour, you will achieve two somethings in two hours. If your desiring limit is 16 somethings, then you have the mindless formula. But what if you want a million somethings? Then you need a new math.” ~ Fred Gratzon
Fred Gratzon explains this new math in this free chapter. It’s a cute book full of great insights. It will give you a new way of looking at the world. After I read the free chapter, I had to have the whole book :)

Why Money Doesn’t Make You Happy
October 2, 2011 | 5 Comments
Money doesn’t make you happy.
BUT… being happy can greatly increase your chances of attracting and having more money. That’s the big illusion behind money that many are awakening to… slowly. In this article I’ll share some insights on why making more money DOES NOT make you happy.
Happiness & Money
The reason many people search for ways to earn and attract money is not because they want more money.
Oh Really?
Well for most people it’s not the reason. They aren’t really interested in the money.
A majority of people don’t want more money… they just want to be happy. It’s the feeling of happiness they are looking for.
Let me explain.
Having money could give you the opportunity to buy a new car, pay for your home, clear your debts or even pay for your education. Having those things – a new car, home paid, debts clear or education accounted for – makes you feel a certain way… some might say it makes them feel ‘full, abundant, joyful, in control, in power, etc.’
Having the money to buy those items I mentioned above – gives you those feelings – BUT in the end, the feeling is what you’re really after.. not the money.
But most people have it backwards.
Chasing After Money
The problem is that many people believe that if they work hard, the money will follow… along with the happiness, success and those other feelings they really desire. Click here to read more…

Post by Tim Eyre
“You can’t have any successes unless you can accept failure.”
The line is from film director George Cukor, acknowledging a timeless truth. Nothing exists in a vacuum.
Would you recognize good if there were no evil?
Success and failure are not opposites. Rather, failure is a component of success. Let’s say you have an idea on how to increase your business or earn recognition in your field. You put it into practice and are discouraged when the results are not what you had hoped.
Do you give up or do you learn from your early attempts?
The most important thing about “failure” is that it doesn’t describe a person. We need to redefine “failure” so it’s not a measure of inadequacy but a necessary step on the road to success. Indeed, it would be hard to recognize success unless you had tried other methods and found them lacking.
Most of us find a few dead ends before we stumble upon the path to the top; often we are a little bruised and battered by the time we do find it.
We’ve earned those scars, and we need to be proud of them; they are badges that measure our perseverance and determination. Some failures are in fact brilliant successes. The sticky note, super glue and even penicillin would not be around if some brilliant scientists hadn’t “failed.” All the more reason not to define failure as a flaw.
Most of the time, of course, our “failures” don’t lead to astonishing new products, but they do serve to teach us something. If we can accept those lessons without allowing ourselves to be devastated by them, we can move forward.
“Invention does not consist of creating out of void, but out of chaos.”
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the English novelist remembered primarily for her classic Gothic novel Frankenstein, made a crucial point – many of us fear chaos. We want things orderly, even if our methods bring us limited results. The idea of embracing the chaos, in whatever form that presents itself, is an alien one. But leaving the safety and comfort of the familiar – the nest, as it were – is a part of growth.
Some years ago, a young writer grew discouraged at the number of rejection slips he was receiving. He felt like a failure and wondered if he was wasting his time trying to write for a living.
As he added the latest letters to the bulging file in his attic-turned-office, he stared at the peaked ceiling. On the spur of the moment, he decided to take the letters out of the file, where they mocked him on a daily basis, and display them by tacking them to the bare walls and ceiling.
Highly visible, the letters became a spur. As he looked around and saw plenty of open space remaining, he determined to fill that space as quickly as he could. As a result, he sent out even more query letters. Although he didn’t see it at the time, what he was doing was embracing the chaos and turning his failures into valuable steps toward success. By increasing the number of pitches he made to editors, he increased his odds, and soon a few acceptance letters turned up in the mail. He even sold a piece about his wall of rejection to a writing magazine! That writer had learned a lesson that the famous inventor Thomas Edison once expressed:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Think about what that would mean to your own struggle on a daily basis! Every day, every dead end, every “failure,” is valuable, as long as you keep trying – you keep persisting. Edison reminds us that when we don’t give up, two things happen:
- We will have more failures, as some of our attempts go astray.
- We will have more success, because we continue to learn what doesn’t work.
They sound contradictory, but they go hand-in-hand. Nineteenth-century American jurist William Strong was expressing the same idea when he said, Click here to read more…

Chasing The Dream
June 28, 2011 | 9 Comments
What I want to do is share a common distinction that most people miss from time to time. (me too!)
It’s not obvious when it’s happening, but it can come to you in a flash of insight. If you have dreams and you’re pursuing those dreams, you’ll completely relate.
Are you ready for this?
Chasing more money, more success and more happiness is what pushes it away. Chasing = FTGWYW
English please?
Chasing = Failure to Get What You Want (Much Better!)
How do you feel about that?
Are you irritated by what I said?
Good. Because the more you chase after success, the further away it moves.
If you want success, you have to let it come to you. You’ve got to ALLOW IT IN.

Making Money is Like Exercising
May 20, 2011 | 11 Comments
It’s funny – but making money is like exercising. If you can exercise routinely then you probably have the mental fortitude and persistence to make money – and lot’s of it!
Have you ever set a goal to lose weight or look really hot for your next vacation?
Maybe not, BUT I know plenty of people who have. I see them at the gym at 6am most mornings. And it has been my experience that the same 11 people go to the gym at this time of the morning. These people are mentally strong and determined to reach their physical goals.
They are persistent. Someone who gets up at 6am routinely to pump iron has definitely made it a habit.
Are these people better or smarter than you or I?
NO! They just built the mental habit to routinely be to the gym for 6am. IF they can do it, so can you!
It all starts with the right MENTAL ATTITUDE.
Maybe you’ve read about that before… people talking about being positive and having the right mindset… but most of these people either don’t know what the heck they are talking about or just plain keep all the secrets to themselves.
In my experience, someone who gets up at 6am to hit the gym consistently has the EXACT SAME mental attitude as someone who earns more money each and every day. I believe that each of the 11 people I see at the gym could earn a million dollars (if that was their goal) because they are mentally strong.
Why would I say that?
Because their mental attitude has given them an empowering perspective to achieve and succeed:
- they focus on rewards and their outcome (as opposed to obstacles and challenges)
- they focus on how they will look and feel at the END of their workout
- they are growth driven to lift more weight, gain greater endurance and increase performance
- they have built the mental habit to take action consistently (notice I said “mental” habit)
- they surround themselves with people that empower them (like other people at the gym, trainers, etc.)
Yeah, people have limiting beliefs – especially when it comes to losing weight and feeling great. BUT so do a lot of people who want to earn more money.
To me, it’s the same.
Making Money is Like Exercising
The reason I say that is because it takes the right mental attitude and a strong desire to make money. You’re not going to figure it out the first time through and you may stumble a few times. It’s part of the learning process.
But to persist and succeed, you must have an empowering perspective to achieve…

3 Funny Beliefs About Money
April 13, 2011 | 15 Comments
These are 3 of the funniest beliefs I think we have about money. Read them, enjoy them and reflect on them.
It’s not every day that someone challenges your beliefs… but that’s really what I want you to do – because by doing so, you’ll live a more fulfilled and satisfied life. As you read through these beliefs challenge yourself and look for the real truth.
Let’s start with…
Belief #1: I Must Work Harder to Make More Money
If you look at the way it really works – it’s that people who work the least get paid the most. If you take someone who works in a fabrication shop – like a welder, electrician or even a labourer and compare their salary to an engineer, who do you think gets paid more?
The engineer does. And what does an engineer do?
He sits on his ass all day. He may write a report or send a few emails, but most of the time he sits on his ass. Even if he decides to make a few phone calls or “engineer” something, he still sits on his butt.
Now what about the welder. He’s working in this fabrication shop sweating – lifting heavy steel – “putting his nose to the grind stone.” Any sort of trade is physical work – these guys and gals work hard at their job, but they still get paid less than an engineer.
Even an engineer has a ceiling on his salary – sure he or she could work longer hours – but they end up paying more tax.
So who really wins?
Working harder makes you sweaty, creates more stress in your life, leaves you “chasing the clock” and paying more taxes just so you can make an extra buck. Working harder is a losing strategy.
Takeaway #1: Working harder is not the key to making more money. If you want to get ahead financially, STOP working so hard. Take a nap and give your mind some “space” to be more creative. Work smarter, not harder.
Belief # 2: It Takes Money to Make Money
Who makes this stuff up? I’m going to guess you heard the same thing from your parents just like I did. Click here to read more…

Daily Affirmations – 3 Mistakes You MUST Avoid
March 8, 2011 | 9 Comments
If you’re a skeptic about affirmations, then make sure to watch the video I’ve included at the end of this article. In this video I share a specific REAL-LIFE example of how to successfully use affirmations to intentionally CREATE a result. Before you watch the video, here are some great insights and some of the common mistakes made with daily affirmations.
Mistake #1: Give Up Too Early
Consistency is really important with affirmations. Once you get started, the repetition has a lasting affect that builds upon itself – creating this neural groove in your mind – so that the next time you use it, the easier it is to apply.
And not only is it easier to apply – each and every time you use the affirmation – you MAGNIFY THE result SIGNIFICANTLY.
The mistake that many people face is that they give up too early – without giving affirmations a chance to SET in their subconscious.
TAKEAWAY #1: Consistency is the key to affirmations. They longer you use them the better the results.
Mistake #2: Use a Different Affirmation Each Day
