Feeling Overwhelmed? Try This!
January 26, 2010 | 35 Comments
I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs. Sometimes it’s better to just lay low and take a break from it all so that you can see the stars through the clouds. It’s easy to get so caught up in the “doing” and working harder mentality to the point where you’re feeling overwhelmed.
In today’s video, I’ll share a trick that has helped me eliminate that nasty feeling of being overwhelmed.

How to Believe in Your Dreams – 3 Steps
January 11, 2010 | 20 Comments
How to believe in your dreams in 3 steps.
Belief is a powerful word – the state of knowing and feeling certain that something special is coming your way. Through my own personal experience I’ve found that creating that state of certainty – to believe in your dreams – has 3 steps.
Here are 3 steps to believe in your dreams:
Step #1. Love What You Do
Recently I was watching Steve Jobs present his commencement speech to the Standford College graduates. Steve is one of the co-founders of Apple computers. Although Jobs is not a college graduate himself he had an important message to help anyone create belief in their dreams.
Steve said that many people try to connect the dots looking forward so that they can see what their life will look like in the future. He said that’s the wrong approach because connecting the dots only happens when you’re looking backward. It’s only after something happens in your life that you realize how it got you to where you are.
He gives the example of when he got fired from Apple. He spent 10 years of his life building this multi-billion dollar company. And when he got fired at the age of 30 it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to him because a few months later he met his wife.
Jobs says that you can’t connect the dots moving forward. You can only have faith and believe in your dreams. Jobs says that the only thing that kept him going all those years when he faced adversity was the fact that he absolutely loved what he was doing. The lesson?
Do what you love and love what you do. To believe in your dreams, make sure to find what you absolutely love to do and the go out and do it.
Step #2. Always Think On Paper
I was at a seminar in Universal City last year and saw some amazing speakers and presenters. One of them was the rich dad from Robert Kiyosaki’s popular book: Rich Dad, Poor Dad. He said something that I’ll never forget,
“Always think on paper.” ~ Keith Cunningham
That means taking a pen/pencil and writing out what you want. Then taking that initial draft and rewriting and refining it until it feels right to you. Creating a state of certainty starts when you know what you want.
Have you ever been to a restaurant when the server suddenly came by to take your order? And because you were unsure of what you wanted, you fumbled a bit?
It’s exactly the same with your dreams. If you’re unsure of what you want, you start to fumble and doubt yourself. That doubt is a dream killer. Click here to read more…

Do New Years Resolutions Really Work?
January 4, 2010 | 5 Comments
This is the worst time to be setting goals and making new years resolutions, well at least statistically. According to polls almost all Americans – about 88% of them – will make a new years resolution this year. The bad news is that half of them will have already broken their new years resolution by January 2 and more than 90% of those resolutions will have been forgotten by April 1 of this year.
So what does that say about you?
If you set an intention at the beginning of 2010 and have stuck it out for the last 4 days, then you’re ahead of at least half the pack. Yup, it definitely says something special about you.
In fact if you keep up at this pace until April you’ll be a diamond in the rough – a rare specimen because only 1 out of 10 Americans keep their new years resolutions well into the first quarter of the year.
I started thinking about my intentions back in December. I didn’t wait until the clock hit 12 on new years eve – by then I had already made up my mind. I had a clear picture in my mind. If you’re not there just yet, then here’s what to do.
When New Years Resolutions Don’t Work
You’ve got to give yourself some time to think about what you want. The worst thing you can do is rush. Just take your time and think about what’s important to you - ask yourself, “What do I really want?” Click here to read more…

Is Your Mindset Holding You Back? 5 Ways to Find Out
December 14, 2009 | 8 Comments
With goal setting or achieving anything at all, bumps are bound to come up along the way. Your mindset can get in the way at times because your subconscious doesn’t always agree with what you consciously want.
“One reason why people don’t achieve their goals is because they don’t know what part of them choose the goal.” ~ John Kehoe
The best way to keep things smooth along your journey to greatness is to start by recognizing the great trickster that triggers these speed bumps.
Here are 5 ways to recognize when your mindset is holding you back:
#5: Lots of Reasons and Excuses show up.
Excuses for not doing what you know you should be doing, but still aren’t doing. Maybe you’ve had a goal to lose weight. You know there isn’t any “secret” to losing weight. The real secret to losing weight is to get your butt to the gym and stop eating so much; but following through takes more than will power – so you never bother to go.
If your mind is making up excuses to stop you from doing what you know you should be doing, then recognize that this is the great trickster at work. That mass of molecules between your ears doesn’t like change – so it’s going to do whatever it can to trick you into staying the same. Just ask yourself who’s in really in control: you or your mind?
#4. Lack of Consistency or Self Discipline.
I’m not a big fan of the world “self-discipline” because in my opinion it implies that self-discipline is work and it really isn’t. Self discipline just requires thinking.
It means thinking about what you want and then going out and doing what’s necessary to get it.

Why Positive Thinking Doesn’t Work
December 3, 2009 | 24 Comments
When I meet someone new at a networking event for the first time we eventually get onto the topic of personal growth. It seems logical that we would, but for some reason there is this mainstream idea that personal growth is about positive thinking. If you think positive thoughts and focus on the good things in life, good things will happen. That’s where I draw the line because positive thinking doesn’t work.
Positive thinking doesn’t work unless it’s associated with positive feeling. I’ve written about this before and my experience with affirmations in T Harv Eker’s book The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.
Harv emphasizes the application of declarations throughout his book. These are basically affirmations that are said out loud. What I realized after practicing these declarations for 6 months is that positive thinking does not work. It only works when it’s associated with positive feeling.
Positive Thinking Must Be Associated with Positive Feeling
The reason I say that is because most of your behavior is associated with your subconscious mind. These deeper layers control the way you behave and the way you trigger a change in those layers is with strong feelings.
Think of your subconscious mind as a feeling machine. If you want to change the implants already growing in your head like those limiting beliefs or mental blocks then start working with the way you feel.
Even the NLP based fear phobia cure that I use works with feelings – only it does this in reverse. Instead of adding feeling to your experience it takes the negative feeling away (along with all those scary skeletons that may come with it). You can learn more about eliminating fear by reading: 3 Things You MUST Know to Overcome Fear
Feelings are a conduit to change. If you want to see change at a deeper level you’ve got to work with your feelings. There is this invisible force when we associate positive feelings to the things we want and negative feelings to things we don’t want.
So here’s my suggestion. Click here to read more…

6 Questions Explaining: What is Belief?
November 25, 2009 | 1 Comment
“Most folks aren’t quite ready to have their belief systems blown to pieces with overtly obvious miracles, but this is changing.” ~ The Universe
If you are ready to have your belief systems blown to pieces then see my 6 questions explaining: What is Belief?
Q#1: What is Belief?
A belief is a mental construct that filters your perception of reality. Just think of it as a sliver of reality. Each one of us can only experience a thin sliver of reality at one time. Most of the time we’re missing all the other experiences we could be having. A belief narrows down our sliver of reality to only a small fraction of what is currently possible for us to experience.
You can’t experience everything. You’re always going to miss out on something because while you’re experience this moment n-o-w, somewhere something else is happening.
Your beliefs play a big part in this filtering process. John Kehoe talks about this thin sliver of reality in his video called, The Ghost Twin:
Q#2: Where Do Beliefs Come from?
Thoughts must pass through your conscious mind before they transform into beliefs. That means you must have consciously thought what you currently believe before you believed it.
If you repeatedly think empowering thoughts you’ll seed new empowering beliefs in your subconscious mind. If you repeatedly think limiting thoughts you’ll seed new limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind.
Beliefs are formed in the subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is a recording device. It replays whatever is recorded on it. It doesn’t have a preference. It takes whatever you give it.
And since you’re in control of what you consciously think, you are in control of what you believe.
Q#3: Where Did I Get My Beliefs?
For most people, 95% of their beliefs were formed between the ages of 0-5 years old. Most of these beliefs are from your environment: your parents, teachers and role models when you were still a baby.
The reason this is true is because of how the brain works when you’re a child. You can learn more by watching this video: The Unconscious Mind Power Series 2
Q#4: How Are Beliefs Created?
Beliefs are created by the repetition of your dominant thoughts – your habitual ways of thinking. It’s a thought or an idea that you have consistently replayed in your mind. These seeds of thought, played over and over again become recorded in your subconscious mind.
Since nobody has seen the subconscious mind just think of it as a digital recording device. As you record your voice on this device, it can be replayed back to you exactly the way you recorded it.
The only difference is that the subconscious mind doesn’t record just the voice, it also records the tonality and volume of your voice – as well as any other thoughts and feelings you repeat to yourself on an ongoing basis. Repetition mixed with emotions are at the heart of changing your beliefs.

November 16, 2009 | 156 Comments
Don’t you just love it, when you tell someone you’re going to do something that’s never been done before and they say, “You can’t do that!” And then somehow that idea seem to stick in your head, playing over and over again.
Know what I mean?
How to Deal With Negative People (and their Negative Thoughts)
The real trick is recognize what I call your conditioned response. You see, sometimes another person will say something and that triggers the PLAY button to one of a million mental programs. This isn’t true for everyone, but you might want to take this little test first to be sure.
