So what is this about fast money?

I’m weary of anyone who tells me that I can make money fast. You should be too. I believe there is some value in being in the right place at the right time, but that’s not going to make you money.  You need to have a solid strategy (or process) to acquire money – especially if the only way you’re currently making money is through your job.

Fast money schemes get a bad rap and they should. Unless you already have an idea that you can sell as a service (or a product) you’re going to find it tough to earn quick money.   Even with those in place, you still need a solid strategy to attract the right people who will buy from you.

It doesn’t matter if someone is buying you (to hire you for a job) or to purchase your product or service. You still need a solid strategy to do this successfully.

Can you attract the right strategy?

Absolutely. If you’re smart enough to act on a good strategy when you see one, you can hit gold. I don’t want to sound like a negative Nancy, but I’ve experimented quite a lot… I may have started 12 different businesses – some have failed (a good number) and others have succeeded. One of the most valuable insights I got from this course was with the one-on-one work that I did, not just with other participants, but with some of the coaching staff.

Peak Potentials has over delivered on every course I’ve ever attended with them.  In the Life Directions Intensive they took it up a notch and did something truly unique.

At the very beginning of the course a group of 30 coaches walked up on stage and introduced themselves one by one. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but then realized what was happening.

Harv had enlisted over 30 professional life coaches from all over North America to volunteer at his 3 Day Life Directions Intensive. Basically, these coaches were there for anyone who wanted coaching during the course. These coaches were a resource to help us through any area of our life – at no additional cost.

There were at least 30 different coaches – from life coaches, wellness coaches and business coaches to more specialized coaches.  Anyone who was open to coaching that weekend would have been at a great advantage because they would have had their own personal coach at their disposal for the entire three days.

4 Step Life Purpose Statement

During this course you’ll also gain clarity on your mission statement.  I refer to this as your life purpose statement.  A statement that is at the fore front of everything you want to be, do or have.  Your life purpose statement doesn’t change with time as your goals do – a life purpose statement is the same throughout your entire life.

Napoleon Hill and Andrew Carnegie taught what they believed to be two of the most important principles to become a massive success.  One of those principles was to have a major definite purpose.  Knowing your life purpose gives meaning to everything that you do so that you can live a purpose-driven life.

There are many ways to define your life purpose statement.  I learned this method from the trainers at Peak Potentials when I attended the Life Directions Intensive.

How to Not Make Money Blogging

I started my blog in May 2007 and blogged for just over a year.  At the end of that year I was earning $30 per month; all of it from Google Adsense which wasn’t worth calling home about. I was stuck with a tiny trickle every month because I was faced with two challenges:

  • I didn’t know how to drive traffic to my blog
  • I didn’t know how to monetize and make money from my blog

You see, you can make money blogging.  Some people don’t seem to think so, but you can if you have the right strategy and model.  I’m living proof of it and there are dozens of others who make money from their blogs.  But before you even start thinking about making money, you’ve got to understand how to drive traffic and how to monetize that traffic.

Enter Yaro Starak.

Yaro is an Australian expert blogger.  I met Yaro for the very first time in Toronto in August 2008.  At that point I had been following his Newsletter, Blog Traffic Tips for about 8 months.  After meeting him in person and receiving massive value from his Newsletter I signed up for his program, Blog Mastermind.

What is Blog Mastermind?

Basically, it’s a program that helps you make money from your blog.  But it’s more than just about making money.  Yaro teaches you a step by step process to help you build a sustainable online business using your blog so that you can earn multiple sources of income 24 hours a day x 7 days a week x 365 days a year.

Does that sound like something you would be interested in?

If so, then you’ll want to keep reading.  There are two important challenges to overcome when earning money from your blog: how to drive traffic and how to monetize that traffic.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

You can’t earn money from your blog unless you have traffic and like I said earlier it took me over a year of struggling on my own to figure that one out.  I had great content, but I just didn’t have a big enough audience reading my blog.

In Blog Mastermind, Yaro covers six strategies of driving traffic to your blog:

  • Lesson 11: Marketing Through Conversations
  • Lesson 12: Leveraging Content For Traffic Part 1 – Forums
  • Lesson 13: Leveraging Content For Traffic Part 2 – Article Marketing & Blog Carnivals
  • Lesson 14: Leveraging Content For Traffic Part 3 – Guest Writing
  • Lesson 15: Search Engine Optimization For Blogs

I’ve used all of these strategies to varying degrees, but if I had to pick my favorite – it would be guest writing (Lesson 14).

Guest writing is when you create content for other prominent blogs or Newsletters in your niche.  The owner of the blog or Newsletter publishes your content while you receive traffic and the audience (or readers) receive valuable content.  It’s a win-win-win strategy and one of the reasons it’s my favorite.

But that’s not the only reason.  Guest articles are a powerful way to drive huge streams of traffic to your blog in a short period of time.  I highly recommend this approach for anyone who wants to make money from their blog.  In my opinion, guest writing is the 20% of action that creates 80% of your results.  In other words it’s effective action.  You can see an example guest article I wrote here: Would You Rather Be Right or Happy?

Writing guest articles can be time consuming, but when you get good at it, you can drive thousands of new readers to your blog and add hundreds of new subscribers to your email list in just over a few days.  I’ve done this on a few different occasions.

James Arthur Ray – Parallel Universes: Is it Worth Buying?

The very thought of quitting my job scared the crap out of me.  I mean if I wasn’t working and couldn’t earn an income, what would I do?  How would I pay the bills?  I played with that idea in my head for over a year before I decided to quit.  It was one of the toughest decisions I have ever made.
