Counter Intentions & Praxis

Praxis is such a fascinating concept. Praxis means integrating belief with behavior.

It has been the basis for a lot of the changes that I’ve made in my life over the past two years, maybe even longer. It’s so powerful that you understand and apply this idea to make the changes you want for your life. It will change the results in your relationships, in your career, your income and in your well being. I’m a big believer in using praxis as a tool to help you achieve massive change.

It’s the beginning of a new year and a lot of people have set new goals for 2008. Some of these goals may be the same goals you had last year, some are not.

Last year you may have decided to loose that extra 50 lb, but it didn’t happen. You were committed to loose the weight but it got tougher every time you went to the gym; the drive in your car got longer, the routine got more intense and those chocolates in the kitchen looked so good :)

Four weeks later you quit your routine and the program.

Counter Intentions

You may have asked yourself, “Where did I go wrong? I thought I had this whole creation process down. The Law of Attraction is always working for me so this should be straight forward.”

I can tell you from my own experience that the creation process is always working but at times it may seem as if it is working against you. You seem to be getting results so you double your efforts and the results do not double. I know this from my own experience. If the Law of Attraction is always working then what isn’t working?

I believe the problem is not with the Law of Attraction, but with our counter-intentions. Our counter-intentions and false beliefs are opposite to our wants and desires. We may say to ourselves and write goals declaring, “I am easily and effortlessly weighing a healthy 125 lb…,” but our counter-intentions say, “I’m too fat. I can’t do that!” It’s these false beliefs and counter intentions that hold us back. It’s these deeply ingrained thoughts that also keep us attracting the things that we don’t even want!

Praxis

I still remember the look on my mom’s face as she was proof reading my very first article submission to Confidence Bound Magazine. As she finished reading the article she looked over at me and said,

“When did you learn how to write? You were never any good at writing before.”

This was praxis in action. I admit there were a lot of other factors involved but the concept of praxis played a big role.

You are much more capable than you think you are. I know this because I’ve seen the changes in myself. Using the ideas in the next series of articles I want to show you how I was able to eliminate some of the false beliefs and counter intentions that were holding me back – so that you can unleash what’s holding you back.

Here’s the next article in the series: How to Become Aware of False Beliefs
