A Sign of a Great Leader

“In so far as your business consists in dealing with other people – whether directly, by telephone, or by letter – the key thought of all your efforts must be to convey to their minds the impression of increase.” ~ Wallace Wattles

The impression of increase is a huge idea. Use this idea to become a great leader. I believe that great leaders use this idea, regardless if they are consciously aware of it or not.

Increase

Wattles is saying that all men and woman seeking an increase must impress that increase on others. When I say increase I’m talking about the things in life that we all want more of.

We want bigger homes, more expensive cars, to dine and eat fine cuisines and wear comfortable clothing. We want books to read, the world to travel and explore. We want to develop our mental faculties. And we want more money so that we can do all of these things.

We want greater freedom. We want to fully express ourselves and be creative through our work. We want to feel that we have purpose in life and in the work that we do. We want to be using our special gifts and natural ability. We want all these things and more because of our natural desire to increase and become more.

Increase Riches

Money is a part of your increase to become more. In this day and age you cannot increase without having money. It’s just not possible.

Now the Universe loves speed. Your advancement as a human being is directly proportional to your desire for increase. The stronger your desire, the faster you will advance. Napoleon Hill once said,

“When riches begin to come, they will come so fast and furious that you’ll wonder where they’ve been hiding through all those lean years.” ~ Napoleon Hill

Riches come from your desire for riches. Your desire or feeling about money originates from your thoughts. And your thoughts come to you in pictures.

When you impress your mental image of riches onto your mind, you will start the creative process. These thoughts download to your subconscious mind. This will impress your mental image onto the formless substance.

Impression of Increase

Now keep in mind that your image of riches is coming from you. It’s coming from thoughts that you originated. It doesn’t come from outside you, it comes from within. Since you’re the originator of all conscious thought, you can picture whatever your want.

Now this thought once clearly formulated in your own mind can be communicated with others. When you communicate this image with others, you’ll be working with an impression of increase. Your image will be impressed upon others in your life.

You don’t simply speak about your vision. You must also take action toward it. Action towards your vision speaks volumes about your becoming. It speaks volumes about your advancement and your character to become more. It’s these actions that seed inspiration in the minds of others. This inspiration will cause an impression of increase. This is what Wattles was talking about.

The impression of increase is a big idea. It’s a big idea because it can grow exponentially. It just doesn’t have to come from you alone.

Great Leaders know this

Now we all know that 1 + 1 = 2. Now imagine two people impress the same image onto the formless substance. You’ve got twice the power. Stated another way,

“Man’s brain may be compared to an electric battery. It is a well-known fact that a group of electric batteries will provide more energy than a single battery. It is also a well-known fact that an individual battery will provide energy in proportion to the number and capacity of the cells it contains.” ~ Napoleon Hill

Napoleon is saying that two brains are better than one. Said another way, impressing an image with more than one brain creates more power. Just as it does with batteries. More batteries create more power.

When you impress your mental image on others, you give that image more power.

Great Leaders & Vision

Keep in mind that human beings are unique because we can create thought. We’re not held to think a certain way. We can think whatever we want.

Great leaders know this. The thing about great leaders is that they don’t force another person to think something. What they do is project their mental image or vision. The send it out freely for others to see.

Great leaders project this image and cause others to see what they see. The actually cause another to be inspired by the possibilities of their vision.

Great leaders are naturally good at this. They inspire others by a single thought; a single idea, a single vision. People will always find a leader in someone who has vision.

Leaders don’t impress their mental image by force, they use power.

You see, your mental image impressed on others provides power. But you’ve got to have it clear in your own mind before you impress it upon others. You cannot impress an image in the minds of others unless it is clear to you first.

Take your mental picture and get clear on it. Once you do, begin to share that vision with others to impress your mental image.

The impression of increase is such a huge idea. One idea turned into a vision can inspire thousands of people. And that inspiration will cause others to see infinite possibilities for their own life. That’s a sign of a great leader.
