Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction states that you attract what you think about. Thoughts are magnetic. You have power to create your physical reality with thought. You don’t need to believe this in order for it to be true.  You will attract what you think about regardless of what you currently believe.  This is important to understand when applying the Law of Attraction.

What you attract and how effective you are at attracting what you want does require some basic understanding. In order to easily work this Law and apply it in your own life, it’s important for you to understand and internalize three important principles. I’ve arranged these principles into a question and answer format to make them easier for me to explain.

  1. Who are you?
  2. Why are you here?
  3. What is your purpose?

As I have studied and practiced as a mechanical engineer for the past 11 years it has given me the opportunity to see the world from a different view point. It’s also caused a stir in me because I’ve always had a deeper intuitive feeling that there was more to life than just appearances. Over the last decade or so I’ve kept probing and asking questions to find the true meaning behind these invisible forces. Finding the answers to these questions has helped me understand and internalize the Law of Attraction.

Q 1: Who are you?

Do you know who you really are? It’s not something we think about, but really give that question some thought.

You see most of us don’t know ourselves. We don’t know our true power, our true genius. We base a lot of our activities on our identity – the person who we think we are.

There is a massive difference between who you think you are and who you really are. The way to distinguish this difference is through your awareness.

If you want to take the lid off your results and effectively apply the Law of Attraction you need to know who you really are. Knowing who you are comes from knowledge and experience. If you want to experience who you are, then try this on.

As you’re reading, listen for that voice inside your head. You know the one. Can you hear it? Now ask yourself: Are you the speaker or are you the listener?

The answer is you’re both. You’re the speaker and the listener. The speaker is mind and the listener is spirit. In fact, you are all three: body, mind and spirit.

Let’s focus on spirit. When you speak to yourself, you’re speaking to spirit. If you really think about it, you are the listener. You’ve always been the listener or spirit. So you might be thinking, “What is spirit?”

Consider this. The fabric of the human body is composed of molecules. And these molecules are composed of even smaller particles called atoms. These atoms are the building blocks of the human body and of all things. If you take one atom from your body and put it under a microscope you’ll discover that it’s a collection of even smaller particles called electrons, protons and neutrons. The interesting thing to note is that the spaces between these particles is gigantic.

Stay with me on this. Let’s assume you’re holding a cup of water. And that cup of water is one of those particles in an atom. The space between that cup of water and the next cup is going to be kilometers away. You would have to travel into an entirely new city in order to see the next cup of water. That’s the sort of space we’re talking about.

This model is similar to a system of planets that orbit the Solar System. You have planets (particles) orbiting around the sun (other particles) with these massive gaps of space in between.

Back to the spaces. At some point physicists started to get really curious about these big spaces between the particles. They started to test and experiment to find out what was in the “space”. Eventually they came to the conclusion that the space between the particles could be measured. They measured it and found that the space was composed of light, heat and other forms of “energy”. Therefore, physicists determined that the empty space is actually made up of energy.

Here is another interesting fact. 99.9% of an atom is empty space. Therefore, 99.9% of your body is empty space or energy. You are energy.

Think about the last time you bumped into someone who was really enthusiastic, someone who had a lot of energy. Think about how vibrant and alive that person was. Why were they so enthusiastic? Why were they so full of energy? It’s because they are energy!

In Ancient Greek mythology, the word enthusiasm means “the presence of God.” And if you look at the definition of God in many religious texts you will discover that the definition of God is stated as something that cannot be created or destroyed, it has no beginning or end and is the personification of some force. This force is energy.

Remember that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It has no beginning or end. It can only change forms or transform. Therefore energy and spirit are one and the same. Energy is spirit and spirit is energy. You are a continuous wave of transforming energy. This is who you are.

Q 2: Why are you here?

You are here to play a game.

There are two phases to existence. There is “knowing” and “not knowing”. When you are knowing you realize that you are energy. Since you are energy, you are connected to everything and therefore have command of everything. You can create anything in this state. You can utilize the Law of Attraction in this state. In essence you are a co-creator of the Universe. Knowing is a state of knowing your true source and power. Knowing understands you are a continuous wave of transforming energy.

Not knowing is the opposite. Not knowing your true source is what you were taught to believe while you were growing up. You were taught to believe that you are a body with a mind. You were taught that you are separate from everyone and everything else. This mirage was created so that you would forget who you really are, which is a continuous wave of transforming energy. Not knowing was created so that you could play the game.

You were given amnesia before you were sent into the physical world. This is the phase of “not knowing”. When you got here you forgot that you had access to unlimited power to create anything you wanted. This was the intention of the game; for you to forget who you really are. Once you forgot you could start to play the game, which is to remember who you really are.

You may be wondering, “Why would I want to play a game?”

You want to play a game because playing will challenge and cause you to grow. You see, knowing is the source of energy and spirit. And spirit wants to express and grow. If there were no challenge then you wouldn’t grow. And growth is what you really want.

It’s the same reason why professional athletes train for years to be competitive in their sport. They consistently challenge themselves mentally and physically to reach new levels of performance. Why would they do this? So they could grow. Our natural desire is growth.

You also want to play a game because playing games are fun. You want to play a game for the sheer fun of it.

Since the point of a game is to be challenged, you thought it would be fun to play a game without knowing you had power. And that’s why you were sent here; to reclaim your power of knowing who you really are.

Q 3: What is your purpose?

You see, you’re mind, body and spirit. And spirit wants to express who you really are. That’s the only real reason you’re here. You’re here to share the very essence of who you are in some form of outward expression. And that essence comes from your very core – your spirit. This is your general purpose for being here.

You came to the physical world in your body. Your body is your vehicle for experiencing your true self. The reason you have a body is so that you can translate spirit into an outward expression.

You may be thinking, what they heck am I supposed to experience? You’re here for one reason and one reason only: to creatively express yourself in some form of outward expression.

Your spirit is ever expanding. And spirit is always looking to expand, grow and become more. Spirit cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change forms. Therefore, you are always changing form.

That is the sole purpose for your existence. You may have other agenda that is more specific to you, but in the grand scheme of things your general purpose is to creatively express yourself in some form of outward expression.

    Dear Steve,
I am glad to know the answer from you for these 3 very imporatnt questions I very often asked myself. I am also a Mechanical Engineer like you – but I am now 64 years’ old working in South China since last 10 years. I am eager to learn more from you. I find your logic of thinking is in line with Dr. Stefen R. Covey – my GURU on human relationship. Later I shall be in touch with you on some such subjects of common interest. I do not understand your meaning of semi-retirement afetr working for 11 years only – at the age of 33/34 years? But I could see from your writing that you are at a much higher level of self-actualization of salvation in life compared to your age. Look forward to learn a lot about this life from you.
    With best regards

    Subir,

thanks for your question. I’m 31 years old and I’m moving into a consulting role with my current employer 2 days a week – that’s what I meant by semi-retirement. You can read more here…. Freedom Day – Nov 1, 2008
