Top 6 Traffic Sources

I killed my Twitter and Facebook profiles this year.  All these so-called “gurus” are telling you that you must have these social media tools in place to be successful.

I disagree.

The main reason I disagree is because most of the traffic to this blog comes from organic search results.  This blog is my best marketing tool by far.

Here were my top 6 traffic sources for 2011…

  1. Google
  2. Stumble Upon
  3. Yahoo
  4. Youtube
  5. Bing
  6. Facebook
Facebook accounted for about 1% of my total traffic in the last year.

Very interesting data Steve, although I did link to this through Linkedin.

Was Linkedin, in your top 10 traffic sources?

Hey Roli… Linked was not in the top 10.

Search engines accounted for almost 60% of the traffic to this blog in the past 12 months.

That is a large amount of traffic and is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about Blogging for Coaches. Our focus is on blogs.

    hi Steve,

There are two other sources of traffic that are promoted frequently, one own’s maillist and commenting on other blogs. Can you share how these two impacted your traffic?

ps I also came here through LinkedIn

    Hey Crystal…

I started blog commenting in the very beginning. I speak about that somewhat with members of our Blogging for Coaches Community. It was a great strategy in the very beginning – like I said – but there are far better strategies for getting traffic to blogs.

Hey Steve, I appreciate your commitment. I’ve had a pretty interesting year in 2011 and I know 2012 to be already in progress in term of traffic to my Blog. I can relate to you about Facebook being on a very small part of my traffic. However, I find Facebook to be a great way to build relationships and also share great content…like your Blog for example. So I’m not planning to kill my Facebook yet. lol

    Thanks for sharing.

    Stephane
