My Blackberry Died Today

Today my Blackberry died.  I got a bit of water on it while I was shaving this morning (oops!)

In this article I’ll share some insights on the loss of my cell phone and how I ended up with something better through Intention Manifestation.

Most people think of loss as a bad thing.  That’s not how I look at it all.

To me everything in our physical experience is only temporary.

If something awfully bad happens…

  • You lose your job
  • You get fired from your job
  • Your computer dies
  • You get into a terrible accident
  • You lose your home
  • You lose an important client

…then something better is usually on the way.   The loss creates *space* for something better to show up.  When a part of you dies another part of you is born.  Sure there may be some temporary pain or discomfort, but in the long run any setback can transform into something even better.

That’s what happened with my Blackberry.  My blackberry has all of my contacts and my complete schedule.  I felt irritated and even a little peeved with the whole episode because I was focused on the setback.

Then I realized the genius of it all.  I became fully awake to the wizardry at work.  Even though I lost a good phone – for some time – I’ve also wanted a new Iphone.

It’s no wonder circumstances played out the way they did :-)

Going Broke Was a Blessing

When I was earning $1,000 a month and deep in debt, I was on the down swing.  My financial situation was borderline poverty. I wasn’t able to take care of my expenses or provide for my family.  It was painful and awfully frightening.

That being said, it turned out to be the best thing that could happen to me.  I gained a new awareness of how to create scarcity.

And why was that a good thing?

Because creating scarcity gave me a very keen awareness of how to create abundance.  The downfall led do the success.  The void led to the fulfillment and so on.

The point is that my temporary loss of income lead me to an awareness of something even better.  It created *space* for me to experience an even greater transformation.

Key Insight #1: Loss creates *space* for something better to show up.  When a part of you dies another part of you is born. Sure there may be some temporary pain or discomfort, but in the long run any setback can transform and even fuel your desire for something even better.

Thinking vs Wanting

The second insight I gained with this whole Blackberry thing is about how we think.  Sometimes we *think* we want something… more money, a better relationships, a brand new car… but it is just that – a thought.

Now I really like my Blackberry.  It gives me access to my friends, business colleagues, it keeps me organized and allows me to communicate via the internet.  But those are mild benefits.  They don’t turn me on.

But the Iphone is sexy.  It does everything my Blackberry does, but it has flare.  It’s convenient and it’s fun!

What I think is remarkable is how the Universe, God, infinite intelligence or whatever you want to call it, always brings you what you want.  And when I say the infinite intelligence always brings you what you want, I’m talking about the Universe responding to how you feel.  Not your thoughts.

SO what’s the lesson?

Focus your attention on your desire.  The Universe already knows how you feel.  You can’t trick it with your thoughts.

How do you do that?

Easy.  Anytime I thought of the Iphone in the last few months, I thought how much fun it would be to have and use; how much much I would enjoy the experience and then I let it go.

I didn’t ask how it was going to happen.  I didn’t dwell on the feelings of “having” to have it either.  I just played with the idea that it was already mine for a few minutes here and there and then let it go.  Over and over again, I did the same thing for the sheer fun of it.  That is the true wizardry behind manifestation.

Create a Desire for Cash

I did the same thing when I wanted to earn $10,000 a month.  I just played with the idea over and over again of what it would be like to have access to that kind of money and the feelings of freedom and choice it would give me.

And nowadays earning $10,000 a month is a pretty normal circumstance for me.  It’s part of my unconscious script.   I don’t have to try very hard to earn that kind of money.  It just happens.

Key Insight #2: This is an emotional Universe.  The Universe already knows how you feel.  You can’t trick it with your thoughts.  Just feel the desire.  Be playful and then let it go.

    Hi Steve,
What a great blog you have here. I especially like this post and how you are able to what I call “flip” your temporary state of defeat to an abundant one.

I’ve done this same exact thing before with houses, cars, relationships and even money at times. I like your way of thinking and I just subscribed to your RSS feed. Nice job and hope to talk with you soon.

I love how you pulled that nugget out of this article Jerome ;)

I hadn’t thought of that way at all… but yes, I intentionally “flip” my attention all the time so that I get more of what I want (and less of what I don’t want)… great nugget!

Many thanks for such an inspiring and helpful post, Steve. I’d be so grateful, if you don’t mind explaining a little bit about not concentrating on ‘having’ – I believe this may be the missing link for me, with ‘manifesting’.

    Hello Steve,

    A great article indeed .

Will you please elaborate on your statement – ” Because creating scarcity gave me a very keen awareness of how to create abundance ” .

Did you create scarcity for yourself because of your thoughts ?

The other thing is your Blackberry died so now you have to for out a few hundred dollars to buy an iPad. So this is a loss right ? You wouldn’t have purchased the iPad if your BlackBerry was still working .

    Thanks & Regards,

    Eileen

    Hey Eileen… wonderful question.

Yes – creating scarcity gave me a keen awareness of how to create abundance.

If you ever felt afraid to do something (like ask someone else out on a date) then you must have also experienced the polar opposite – what it felt like to be courageous and confident.

The point is that I was operating from scaricty on a daily basis… this “not enoughness” became my dominant vibe and created some experiences that didn’t serve or empower me (i.e. lack of cash and lack of connection in my relationships)… I mean I was very lonely at the time.

The truth is that I realized I was at the cause of it… that I was the CREATOR, which meant that I could also create something else… ANYTHING… and I chose abundance. It was an experiment. If I can create poverty then I must be able to create scarctiy with the same formula. And my “hypothesis” proved to be true.
